Gloria Hartley: Moms of deploying children

Yes, it’s me, Gigi. I’m so glad I work with soldiers, God bless and protect each one of them. They understand. Also, most of the employees are dependents or retired military, or they have a husband/son/daughter deployed or one who has recently returned.

I’m told a lot: “I’ll pray for him”……….mostly from other soldiers. Lord, thank you for my sons. Fine and brave young men that they are, it’s your doing, not mine.

Continue to keep your hand on them. Especially during this deployment or any that may follow.

I haven’t mentioned my soldier, my husband in this because I think I’ve expressed my fears/feelings previously about him while he’s in Harm's way, but, you asked specifically about moms  of deploying children.

God has really smiled down on me by allowing me these three special soldiers. Stay safe Don. You know you’re my rock. Sorry to be so wordy. 

Dear Lord, I'm praying for my loved one's faith today. I know it's got to be shaken by what he's seeing around him. Instead of being shaken, use his circumstances to strengthen his faith. Let him see the situations around him as evidence of Your great love.

"Dear Heavenly Father, I lift up my sons, Husband to you today as They serve our country overseas. Please keep them safe and protected from all harm, guide their steps, and grant them wisdom in every decision. Comfort them in moments of loneliness and fear, and remind them of your unwavering love. Give them strength to fulfill their duty with courage and integrity. I pray for their safe return home soon, and until then, may your presence be with them always. Amen.".

A mother's prayer for a deployed Son/daughter may include asking for God's protection, strength, and guidance for them:

Lord God, Thank You for Your constant watch over my Sons. They are never out of Your reach, never out of Your sight, and never too far for You to bring them home. Continue to protect them by Your love and power. Surround my children and husband with angels and shield them from the evil one.
