Deepertruth reigns Now on PodBean continuing Our Catholic outreach. We got to take this Message back to the street

I returned to the Catholic Church beginning in October 1978. Cursillo was the major instrument the lord used in my life in bringing me home.

I had just spoken to my Mother that I was thinking of joining a local Baptist church in Branson Missouri where I had been going to College.

I was going to the School of the Ozarks where I had a baseball scholarship. My faith was placed on the back burner and I had been going on campus to the "Non-Denominational/Presbyterian church.

That was part of our requirement in going to the college there. They wanted the students to make a certain number of weekend services each semester.

I would go there with members of the baseball team. In going down this path, I participated in a number of retreats sponsored on the college campus and I got involved in some of those. Through this process, my Catholic faith was hurting tremendously. My understanding was hurting tremendously.

I was there nearly three years when friends of mine invited me to join them at their local Baptist church and I had actually attended a couple of services. I was talking to my Mother what I was doing when she invited me to go to a "retreat" for her. Mom asked me before I formally made any kind of profession outside the Catholic Faith, she wanted me to wait until after I made this retreat.

I didn't see anything wrong with that so, I decided to go to this retreat. What I did not know was that my Mother had been working with the Cursillo movement in Southern Missouri and when I went to this "retreat", I walked into something I had know way of knowing the power this would have on me. This weekend changed my life.

I came back to college totally change, renewed, my roommates for nearly three years who didn't know I had a Catholic background were literally shocked. There were a group of Nuns who began to present Catholic instructions on the college campus at 06:00 in the morning and I began to attend these instructions. This would lead to a year long debate with my roommates, friends, members of the baseball team that would help me shape into the "Catholic Defender".
